Both Su Lin Lee, Resource Nurse and Suman Sidhu, Registered Nurse pictured with the unit are grateful to Rotary for having this much needed item in their unit now.  While taking the picture yesterday, Su Lin and Suman shared with me that having a portable ultrasound in the Critical Care Unit is extremely valuable as it allows clinicians to easily perform a bedside scan on their critically ill patients without having to move them from the unit.  Scans from the portable ultrasound unit help clinicians obtain immediate clinical information, diagnose complications and it also helps them to determine whether the patient needs to be transported (from the comfort of their bed) to the Diagnostic Imaging unit to have a full scan performed with larger equipment.
